AquaGearLab Gear Guides

How We Choose Aquarium Gear

AquaGearLab is built around one editorial principle: a recommendation should explain who a product is for, what problem it solves and what trade-offs come with it.

What we compare

Depending on the category, we look at tank-size fit, flow or output control, livestock safety, temperature stability, maintenance access, replacement media or parts, included accessories and the practical limitations of the product format.

Research versus hands-on testing

We do not describe a product as tested by AquaGearLab unless it was actually handled and evaluated. Research-based guides use manufacturer documentation, current product information and aquarium-specific use cases. The article should make that distinction clear rather than implying experience that did not happen.

Affiliate independence

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate relationships do not increase the price you pay. They also do not change the criteria used to explain product fit, weaknesses or alternatives.

How updates are handled

We revisit guides when product families change, links stop working or important information becomes outdated. Corrections can be submitted through the Contact page.
